Skills

At the heart of healthcare lie skills.  These are the activities that individuals within the professional workforce use each day in the pursuit of making patients better.  From putting on gloves in a specific way to avoid infection, inserting needles or catheters into patients' bodies or lifting and handling; each skill takes practice to get right and this needs to be done in 'real life'.  Thankfully, simulation can play an important role - allowing trainees to watch and learn before they try them for themselves - significantly speeding up the learning curve.
